Poison Ivy Utility Pole

As we all observe, poison ivy LOVES to grow on roadsides. It gets lots of sun, not much competition, and birds love to sit on the wires and drop seeds there. So it is almost rare to NOT see poison ivy by a roadside in the eastern part of the United States. (In California it would be poison oak.)

Here is a case where a utility worker who doesn’t recognize the plant that is growing up this pole could easy become seriously affected by a rash that will change their whole summer. And maybe that of their family, if they bring home clothing covered with the plant oil.

So pass this along to any linemen for the county that you might know.
