These are poison ivy leaves on a climbing vine – just barely opening up in spring.

This is where some of the plants are at on April 29 in New England. Others are more advance. In the south of the US, they will be in full leaf mode. Up in Canada, not even as far along as this.

It is hard to spot the plant when the leaves are so teeny and you can’t see the 3 leaflets yet. In doubt? Wait a week.
