The Fall Poison Ivy Trap

Poison ivy turns wonderful colors in the fall and this often fools people into collecting it for decoration in the home.

Needless to say, picking poison ivy sprigs is a very bad idea: breaking the vine releases plant sap containing the urushiol oil that causes the allergic reaction in people.

The only ways to enjoy the remarkable fall color of poison ivy are to either just look at it, or to photograph it: both methods are safe!
