poison ivy in winter

I'll be honest. As a person somewhat obsessed with poison ivy, you would think I would always be able to spot it in any season, in any form of growth.

poison ivy in ice

Normally you would not expect to see poison ivy growing out of icy swamp water.

poison ivy winter tree

Here is a pretty scary image of a poison ivy vine "exploding" at the top of a dead tree.

When the vine can't find anything else to climb on it starts reaching in all directions, either for another climbing surface or for sun.

poison ivy on roadside tree

Here is another example of poison ivy revealing itself with great fall color. However, for reasons known only to the poison ivy gods, while most of this ivy has turn bright red, a portion on the lower right has turned yellow, and some is still green.
