I have rarely seen poison ivy climbing a white birch, but as this photo shows it is happy to do so.
But it also does a nice job of revealing itself against the white bark.
Some things to notice:
The younger vines have almost no visible hairs The hairs are reddish in color The climbing vine splits into various branching vines
It is surprising how easy it is to pull a vine off of tree or wall, in spite of those thousands of hairs. But of course, don't do that without gloves and other protection!
