NOT Poison Ivy: Creeper!

Virginia Creeper in fall

Be aware that Virginia creeper, the vine that often grows right along with poison ivy, also turns color in the fall. Both can be ground vines and both certainly climb.

The key difference is that creeper normally has 5 leaves in a group, while poison ivy has 3. (Occasionally creeper has only three leaves at the tip where it is climbing up a tree or a wall.)
