I am not sure this rash came from using a string trimmer around poison ivy, but this is what comes to mind.
The weed whacker cuts into the poison ivy and sends a stream of the plant oil, urushiol, onto your legs. Notice that there are no cuts, just lots of deep red rash.
But I wonder: why is the rash worse behind the knees?
