Same Time Each Year

evil jacket

I just got an email from somebody who got a poison ivy rash in the exact same spot as last year, but this time without ever being out in the woods.

But, as they said, "the penny dropped" and they realized it was the same jacket they wore camping a year before when they first got the rash.

I suspect this is what's behind the common story I am told "I get the rash every year, same place, without ever going near poison ivy."

I am betting that people are putting on last year's jacket, pants, or shoes, or using last years tools or tractor, and that is how they come back into contact with the nasty poison ivy, oak, or sumac oil.

The oil is extremely stable and will last for many, many years, happily waiting for you to wear that old jacket, sweater, or gloves.
