Beach Warning!!!

poison ivy beach access

Along the Atlantic coast, particularly in Massachusetts, I have seen many places like this, where there is a mass of 50 to 100 feet of solid poison ivy along the beach. This was taken on Boston's North Shore, but both Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard have places like this. So be aware that there IS poison ivy at the beach, usually between the sandy beach and the woods. Poison ivy actually does a good job of holding the dunes against erosion and keeps people from trampling the dunes, assuming people know that it IS poison ivy. Have a happy and safe July 4th weekend.
